It’s the best time of the year – the library’s Summer Reading Club!

I hope you’ll join us throughout June and July and participate in our SRC. We’ll have amazing FREE library programs for all ages. Here are just a few of my favorites. 

• Summer Reading Kickoff Party on Saturday, May 30, 10:30am–1:30pm for all ages.
  • Pet exotic animals, jump in a bouncy house, meet community helpers, play fun games, and get signed up for Summer Reading. Free food provided by our amazing Friends of the Cedarville Library! 

• Fused Glass Class at Busy Beaver Arts & Crafts on Tuesday, June 02, 5:30pm–7:00pm for adults

• Columbus Zoo Visit on Thursday, June 04, 11:00am–12:00pm for ages 5+

• Pottery Class – Teen Edition on Wednesday, June 10, 2:00pm–3:00pm for teens 
• Painting Party with Cheryl on Saturday, June 20, 10:30am–12:00pm for adults 
• Music Jamboree Storytime on Monday, June 22, 10:30am–11:30am for ages 2-5 

• Archaeology: Can You Dig It? Dig Pit on Wednesday, July 01, 2:00pm–3:00pm for ages 5-12
• Gemstones Across the World on Wednesday, July 08, 2:00pm–3:00pm for ages 6-12

Welcome to 2026!  

If you’re like me, the start of 2026 may have felt a bit heavy. Whenever I feel like this, I always focus on ways I can add some positivity to my surroundings. That got me thinking about one of the greatest joys of my life – working at your Cedarville Community Library. So, for this first blog of 2026, I want to share some of our library joys of 2025.

• 62,758 items circulated in 2025 at Cedarville. We currently have 4,266 people with library cards that say Cedarville is their home library, so that’s almost 15 items checked out by each person. Throughout all of GCPL, 2,876,681 items circulated!

• We provided 427 programs, with 16,338 in attendance. 142 programs for kids, 135 adult programs, and 150 programs for multiple ages. Throughout all of GCPL, 4,167 programs were provided!

 

 

• 20,930 snacks were provided to our patrons.
• 111 teacher collections were created with 3,166 total items. Most were hand delivered to Cedar Cliff Schools and the Learning Center.
• There were 39,150 visits to the Cedarville Community Library.  
• We welcomed three new fabulous staff members – Abby Adelhardt (Circulation Clerk), Nicole Anderson (Youth Services Librarian), and Tylee Southwell (Circulation Clerk).
• One of our librarians welcomed a beautiful baby girl to her family.
• Over 800 people came to the library’s Little Town of Lights celebration and 485 attended our Summer Reading Kickoff Party.

• Finally, the Cedarville Community thoroughly spoiled the library staff at Christmas, bringing us hot cocoa, cookies, chocolates, cinnamon rolls, and all kinds of delicious treats – including delightful music from Cedar Cliff School’s second graders. Look at all their beautiful faces!

It is a true privilege to serve the Cedarville Community at your Library. I’m so grateful for the opportunity and hope to share more joyful moments with you all in 2026!

I’m so excited for this year’s Little Town of Lights celebration at the library on Saturday, December 6 from 5:30-7:30! 

Outside, we’ll have live reindeer and a sleigh.  Inside, we’ll have live holiday music with Woodlief, crafts, sock skating, elf bowling, nutcracker ring toss, AND our wonderful Friends of the Cedarville Library will be serving free hot cider.  We’ll also have special holiday finger lights as a giveaway for kids and those young at heart.  It’s going to be a wonderful evening of fun and fellowship!

Then, when the new year rolls around, we’ll be starting our Winter Reading Challenge – for both kids and adults.  Here’s a sneak peak at the prizes – stuffed yetis for kids and a five-pronged highlighter for adults.  

 

I’m so grateful to be working at your Cedarville Community Library!  It is such a joy to bring these fun, engaging programs to all of you!!!

I’m so happy to share we’ve recently hired a new Youth Services Librarian.  Welcome, Nicole Anderson!  We are so happy Nicole has joined the Cedarville Community Library team!!!

Nicole received her Master of Library and Information Science from Kent State University in August.  She also has her Bachelors of Arts in Global Studies and Spanish from North Park University.  She is a previous preschool teacher and went to Cedar Cliff Schools.  She loves working with children and encouraging their curiosity and joy.  

We certainly miss our previous Youth Services Librarian, Anjanette Hook (who is now working at Cedarville University where she is doing a great job), but we’re looking forward to all the wonderful programs and connections Nicole will bring to the Cedarville Community Library.

We’ve also hired a new Circulation Clerk.  Welcome, Tylee Southwell!  We are so happy Tylee has joined the Cedarville Community Library team!!!

Tylee received her Bachelor of Arts in Human Services from Moody Bible Institute.  She is a previous Donor Appreciation Associate and Camp Counselor and has over four years of customer service experience.  We are thrilled with her kind nature and her empathetic problem-solving skills.

We definitely miss Maddie Kelly, our previous Circulation Clerk, but we wish her well as she is now getting her Master of Library and Information Science degree.

I hope you will join me in giving Nicole and Tylee a big welcome to Cedarville!

As summer is winding down, I’m happy and sad for back to school and fall. I can’t wait for cooler weather, but my daughter is going off to college (12 hours away!) and while I’m super excited for her, I’ll also miss her terribly. During this time of transitions, know your library is here to support you in all your happy AND sad times.

Speaking of happy times, we have so many great events and programs to look forward to in August and September! 

• We’re excited to celebrate another wonderful CedarFest. We can’t wait to see you at the Parade on Labor Day!
• On August 14 at 2:00, we’ll have an Interactive Family Movie at the library – Monsters University.
• If you like herbs, join us on August 16 at 10:30 for a Growing and Using Herbs class with Master Gardener, Kathy Estabrook. You can register for this program here.

   

• Teens – because our last Nailed It! program was so successful, we’re having a special Fall Edition on August 28 at 6pm. Click here to register. We can’t wait to see your amazing creations!

 

• Finally, for those of you who love flowers, click here to register for our Flower Arranging with Sammy Trick class on September 16 at 6pm. Perhaps your arrangements will be as beautiful as these were from our last class with Cedarville’s own village petaler!
